Welcome to FOFA. Dedicated to fiber art, Focus On Fiber Art @ Room is a new gallery in Frenchtown, New Jersey. Here owner and resident artist Elena Stokes creates art quilts, fiber and felted sculptures as well as hand dyed and hand painted silk scarves.
The goal of FOFA is to bring attention and awareness of fiber and textile art as fine art, which is rich, diverse and exciting. While the origins of many techniques used by textile and fiber artists began as utilitarian, such as quilting, weaving and felting, the use of textiles and fiber in art have undergone a transformation over recent years, transcending the domestic arts to folk art, from folk art to fine art.
Although the focus is on textile and fiber art, FOFA has an eclectic blend of wearable art and accessories, paper collage, mixed media, wire art and paintings by local artists as well. Click THE GALLERY for a glimpse inside.
